A day in the life at Say it Now – Alex Bovill
My day spent at Say It Now allowed me to undertake a variety of situations and activities such as attending various meetings, learning from members of the team and their past experiences and advice that has helped them get to where they are today. This has given me a greater understanding of what the day-to-day running of a company looks like and the level of organization and self-discipline it requires. Going into this experience, my knowledge in this industry was pretty limited and I wouldn’t say working in technology is a strength of mine. However, throughout the day learning about Audio advertising intrigued me thoroughly, and I fully grasped the impact it will have on our society in the future.
I started the day with Charlie giving me an overview of his career and pathway to the creation of Say it Now. This helped me gain a better understanding of the company and what needs to be done in order for the company to continue to grow. I was then given a great opportunity to attend a couple of meetings that looked at giving feedback to an existing client and then a team meeting with Charlie, Maria, Norbert, and Zoe. It was fascinating to hear all of their discussions and the level of communication to detail that is needed to make sure everyone is on the same page. I was also exposed to tasks such as looking over various opportunity and feedback reports after Q1. Having a level of responsibility was great experience and helped me develop my skill set for the years to come. I then attended 5, one on one meetings with some of the team. Learning from Sidd, Nicola, Zoe, Norbert, and Borys and the contrast in all of the career paths was really intriguing. This taught me a lesson that not everyone’s journeys have to be the same in order to get to the same destination.
This experience has been really valuable to me, learning several lessons and experiences that the team had to offer. Getting an understanding of how their careers have progressed gradually over time has helped me identify possible opportunities for the future and given me more certainty and structure for the years to come. I would like to say a huge thank you to Charlie and the rest of the Say it Now team for this wonderful experience and for taking the time off to make me feel so welcome. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for Say it Now.
